Transportation and hence truck drivers form the backbone of the logistics industry. Yet, their basic needs of hygiene, accommodation and health have been overlooked all these years. There are 50 lakh truckers travelling the length and the breadth of the country. Add to it the number of helpers, cleaners and their direct dependents and we have more than a crore people living out the misery of this vocation, day in and day out. DIESL has taken up the cause of health, hygiene and awareness among truck drivers.

Health and Hygiene:
DIESL has more than 176 warehouses across India, even in the remotest of places in North East India. We have identified Warehouses in every region where space is dedicated to Community Labs- Training centres for truck drivers. These Community Labs are equipped with Audio-visual aids, where every truck driver associated with DIESL in that area has to mandatorily participate in awareness programs for AIDS and other STDs. All these efforts are to ensure that not only does HIV not spread but also that the stigma associated with the disease is also lessened, so that people feel comfortable to get themselves tested and disclose their HIV positive status. This can ensure better medical treatment for them when required.

Road Safety:
These Community Labs are also used for awareness programs in road safety, and traffic regulations.

Carbon Emissions:
Transportation industry is one of the biggest contributors to carbon emissions. Consolidating further DIESL's efforts to give back to this planet and reduce carbon footprint through DIESL PASP (DIESL Plant a Sapling Program), DIESL also plans to use these Community Labs for creating awareness in truck driver community about global warming and how proper vehicular maintenance can help in reducing the carbon emissions per vehicle.
