DIESL has adopted Jarandi, a village of Taluka Shahapur, Thane District. Our endeavor is make Jarandi self sustainable by generating employment, addressing water problems, improving health, sanitation and basic living conditions in the village, and promoting agriculture and education. The village which had drinking water sustainability only for 4 months previously, now has drinking water throughout the year due to the catchment areas, mini-dams and bore-wells set up by DIESL. Regular health & nutrition camps have improved the general health of the villagers. Through the ‘5 Guntha Project’, DIESL has helped several farmers with seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, saplings and tools to promote agriculture, afforestation and income generation. Jarandi recycles cattle waste through compost pits, and the Kitchen garden program provides nourishment for families. |
